A Request

Despite my several requests, the comments section in the other post "Illayaraja vs A.R.Rahman" took ugly turn with personal bashing and with heavy heart, I had to delete ALL comments without any judgement on the merit of each comment.

I apologize and make a sincere request again to engage in constructive thoughts, as you have always done in the past 1 year!

Good move. Most of the debate turned into ugly nonsense bashing near the end, so I decided to step away and just observe after my initial replies. The only comments which might have been worth keeping were those made by the person named Dr Vijay, imo. But deleting everything is a cleaner approach.

I just hope the debate doesn't jump to this page instead.

Keep up with your wonderfully thought out blog posts, Emjay.

Hi Mohan,

Somehow, in our household there is not that much excitement about this whole oscar thing...The other day too, we decided to watch a comedy instead of SDM movie. Its something to be proud that India is winning an oscar. That made me go listen to the song Jai Ho. I don't find it particularly special in anyway. I think its the subject of the movie that won it the oscars. Didn't Lagaan get nominated too and I think Lagaan had way better music than SDM. I don't think oscar is the basis for comparing one composer to another. ARR has just gained a lot of popularity in the US (I recall his musical Bombay Dreams in NYC). I was listening to the violin piece by Karthik Raja a while ago, called Adiye Kiliye from Kudaikul mazhai. Its a good composition and way better than ARR's several latest. IMHO :)

It has become rare to see people who appreciate both IR and ARR. I love both IR and ARR equally. Just that when it comes to choosing either, I go with IR.

To someone who commented about IR's guesture,

This is the truth. Hope they Realize it.

Thanks,

I agree with you, Vinith.

Anna - Wow!!! That piece from Kudaikkul Mazhai is mindblowing..from Karthik Raaja. One of the most most underrated composer.. Have you listened to his "Kaadhal Vaanoli" song from Album? Another great song of his, I love..

Yeah Vinith!! I too don't find many ppl who appreciate both Raaja and Rahaman well. Unfortunately, I see more ppl who abuse either of them badly.
